A key objective of LS9 is to broaden and strengthen our overall feedstock capability with existing or first generation feedstocks (sugarcane, corn, sweet sorghum, etc.), by-product feedstocks such as glycerin and molasses, and next generation sugar technologies which extract sugar from cellulosic biomass, sugar cane bagasse, corn stover, wood chips, etc. Virdia formerly known as HCL CleanTech Ltd is one of the emerging leaders in this next generation technology space. LS9 has partnered with Virdia and successfully obtained a grant from the United States Department of Energy (DOE) to demonstrate and optimize the integration of HCL’s innovative next generation sugar technology with LS9’s sustainable fuels and chemicals platform technology.
